3 Reasons Why Connecting with the Wheel of the Year will Radically Change You

for the past 3 years, i’ve wanted to build community around the Holy Days and connecting with the Wheel of the Year.

the Quarter Days {Solstices and Equinoxes} are {imho} the best days to slip into the woods and remember how Gaia, the green world, the Great Mother holds us so sweetly and guides us so wisely.

but my favorite way to celebrate the High Holy Days {like Thursday’s Summer Solstice} is to be in ceremony with others who want to honor the Earth’s turning in community.

which is why I’m so excited to invite you to join us for THE LITHA SPIRAL ~ a f r e e online gathering for women to be in ceremony & honor the Summer Solstice!

but before you decide to join me ~ you might be wondering…

so why should we even care about connecting with the Wheel of the Year…?

it’s amazing to me to see how much more talk there is about days like the Solstice and Equinoxes {and even the Cross-Quarter Days like Imbolc, Samhain etc…} on social media. to me, it gives me so much hope ~ we are remembering the Old Ways. returning to conscientiously connecting with the land and the Great Mother who nurtures us even when we’ve forgotten our roots.

but you might be wondering {as you see all these weird rituals and old Gaelic names like “Lughnasadh” thrown about}… what’s the point of paying attention to the Wheel of the Year days?

here are 3 reasons i’ve found the Wheel of the Year to be a powerful conduit for radical change in my own life:

1️⃣ when I connect with the Wheel of the Year, I connect with the innate rhythms of my own body

this has been such a huge part of coming into partnership with my body instead of being at war with her. as i witness the turning of the Wheel of the Year, and understand that each of Gaia’s seasons are deeply necessary and important to the functioning of the whole, I understand the importance of my own body’s seasons.

From your monthly menstrual cycle to the overarching seasons of your life {maiden, mother, matriarch, crone…} — each phase feeds the next and spirals back into itself. An ever upward journey of deeper understanding and growth.

2️⃣ aligning with our ancestors

every culture, at some point in its long, long history had ways of marking time in relation to the Sun. when we tap into the Old & Holy Ways, we honor our ancestors and weave our threads with them once again.

we’ve come a long way from the days of our food supplies being solely dependent on when the Sun was highest in the sky, so sometimes the abundance of Summer’s crops might feel redundant… but our different lineages all likely knew the hunger of an off-season, when the crops were low and hope was in short supply.

may we honor their journeys by fully acknowledging and giving gratitude to all the comparative ease we experience in modern life, and send them blessings through time & space via the Solstice portal.

3️⃣ shifting our relationship with time

marking the passing of the Sun through the Wheel of the Year roots us into a different rhythm of time.

instead of existing solely in the extractive-capitalist framework of productivity-at-all-cost-as-fast-as-possible… we learn to move at the Pace of the Body,

which is the Pace of the Earth…

which is s l o w …

and sustainable …

and deeply nourishing

I hope you’ll join me for THE LITHA SPIRAL on Wednesday, June 19th at 5pm Eastern where we’ll dig deeper into the wisdom and magic of this Holy Day, and tap into some rituals you can explore on your own when the Solstice hits it’s peak on Thursday the 20th at 4:50 PM EDT.
